Itinerary for a weekend on the Island of Elba with northerly winds

When westerly winds like the Mistral blow on the Island of Elba we will head to the south coast of the island to find the best conditions for beautiful sailing with flat seas, crystal clear water for swimming breaks, and to spend the night in safety sheltered from the waves.

SALIVOLI – PUNTA CALAMITA – GULF STELLA – NAVIGATION HOURS 4

We set sail in the morning for a beautiful sailing of about two hours to the wild beaches of Punta Calamita: the Remaiolo beach and the Cannello beach. The point takes its name from the iron deposits which, due to their magnetic effect, influence compasses and on-board instruments. Time for a nice swim in the emerald water, surrounded by the old abandoned mines that make the landscape very suggestive.

In the afternoon we hoist the sails again to head towards Golfo Stella, the first of the three large gulfs on the southern coast of the island. A beautiful sailing awaits us to go back to the bottom of the gulf which, with the mistral winds, creates the perfect conditions for sailing in flat seas. We will choose the beautiful Norsi beach for anchorage, a little frequented beach surrounded by nature with turquoise colored water.

In the evening the Golfo Stella is a magical place, dominated by millions of stars that light up the sky. For those who prefer a bit of nightlife, they can go down to the beach in a small Ibiza-style chiringuito, or visit the characteristic village of Capoliveri, which can be reached by taxi.

GULF STELLA – GEMINI ISLANDS – ORTANO – SALIVOLI – NAVIGATION HOURS 4

In the morning after a nice refreshing swim we move to visit the Gemini Islands, two small islets ideal for snorkeling and diving. Do not miss a SUP ride in the Grotta del Bue Marino, just behind the islets.

We leave to stop for lunch in the Gulf of Ortano. For those who love snorkelling, Ortano offers a characteristic rock, which detaches from the coast, creating an area of shallow water. Ideal for diving with mask and snorkel in hand to observe the vast variety of fish that inhabit the island.

In the afternoon, a last beautiful sailing between the islets of Palmarola and Cerboli will take us back to the port of disembarkation.
