Itinerary for a weekend on the Island of Elba with winds from the South
When southern winds such as Scirocco or Libeccio blow on the Island of Elba we will head to the north coast of the island to find the best conditions for beautiful sailing with flat seas, crystal clear water for swimming breaks, and to spend the night in safety sheltered from the waves .
SALIVOLI – GULF OF PROCCHIO – MARCIANA MARINA – 3 HOURS OF NAVIGATION
We begin our itinerary from the Tuscan coast to head towards the magnificent gulf of Procchio. Our first stop will be Viticcio beach. A large natural pool of turquoise water, certainly among the most beautiful on the island when arriving from the sea.
In the afternoon, those who love sailing will enjoy sailing from one side of the gulf to the other, where the Scirocco winds create perfect conditions with wind and flat sea. Next stop the Paolina beach. Characterized by the nearby islet covered by Mediterranean scrub, it owes its name to Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister, who joined it on Elba during his exile, and apparently was enchanted by the colors of the water.
After swimming and relaxing, we hoist the sails again to head towards Marciana Marina, here we will spend the night at anchor in front of the characteristic Elba village where we can go ashore for an evening animated by stalls, cafes and excellent restaurants.
MARCIANA MARINA – SANSONE – PALMAROLA – SALIVOLI – NAVIGATION HOURS 3
We set sail from the Marciana bay towards the famous white beach of Sansone. One of the most fascinating beaches on the island, surrounded by steep white rock cliffs. The crystal clear water on the seabed of white pebbles creates wonderful plays of color from turquoise to blue.
After lunch we leave for the last leg of our weekend with a stop on the islet of Palmarola. Here we will take shelter in a small cove on the north side where we can dive for a last dip. We also have the option of going down for a short walk that leads to the lighthouse on the highest point of the island to enjoy one last glimpse of this wonderful island before returning to the boarding marina.
